I’ve driven a scooter once before, so I felt fairly comfortable the second time around. I’m not talking about an Amish scooter propelled by leg power; this one has 50 ccs of power and is a registered vehicle.
The day was gorgeous. The sun was out and the temperature was in the low 80’s. My friend Andrea and I were ready for a fun afternoon with Strasburg Scooters. We were excited for our guided tour through the back roads of Lancaster County with stops at several covered bridges and an authentic Amish farm. We joined 10 others for this adventure; most of which were from out of state. The owner, Marc Crusemire, was our tour guide. Marc was fantastic. He’s personable, patient, but above all, safety conscious.
We spent about an hour practicing with our scooters before heading on our tour. I was chomping at the bit to get on the road. There’s nothing like cruising the back roads on an open scooter at a leisurely pace!
The tour lasted 3 hours and was well worth the price. The price includes scooter rental, a helmet, a professional guide, and plenty of bottled water. All you need to bring is a valid driver’s license and eye protection (sunglasses/eye glasses). Feel free to bring along your camera, phone, handbag, etc. as there is plenty of storage in the compartment under the seat.
Strasburg Scooter has single and double seat scooter as well as the new Scoot Coupe (it looks like a mini car). They offer several tour options including a Thanksgiving Day Tour (talk about a memorable holiday!).
Our tour was so much fun! I’d do it again in a heartbeat. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, it’s a great way to spend an afternoon.
